Ginger

Zingiber officinale

Ginger is one of the most extensively studied botanical plants, with a documented traditional history in Ayurvedic, Chinese, and Arabian herbalism spanning over 5,000 years. Its primary compounds — gingerols (in fresh ginger) and shogaols (concentrated in dried ginger) — are what give ginger its characteristic warmth. Applied topically in an oil infusion, ginger creates a sustained warming sensation that feels deeply comforting on tired muscles.

Did You Know

Shogaols — the form gingerols transform into when ginger is dried — produce a more intense warming sensation than fresh-ginger gingerols, which is why dried ginger infusions are traditionally preferred for warming formulas over fresh.

Our Sourcing

Ginger is grown in InVine's Florida garden, where the long, hot growing season allows the rhizomes to develop fully before autumn harvest. The roots are dried slowly after harvest — a step that converts gingerols to shogaols, concentrating the warming compounds — before being prepared and slow-infused in cold-extracted organic oils for eight full weeks.

Why We Use It

Ginger is the warming heart of the Muscle Revive Balm, and I chose it for a warmth that rises slowly and lasts — not the quick cooling flash that is gone in minutes. The gingerols and shogaols are what give ginger its characteristic deep, sustained warmth that feels so comforting on tired muscles. It pairs naturally with cayenne and turmeric as part of a warming botanical triad I have used personally for years — and growing it in our own garden means we control the freshness and potency of every batch.
